You can complain to your HOA board, your state’s licensing board, the police, or even file a lawsuit but for someone with a professional license nothing beats going to the organization that gave them those letters after their name.
CMCA stands for Certified Manager of Community Associations. It is a professional certification issued by the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB). To file, use the complaint form on CAMICB’s “Standards of Professional Conduct” page. Submit a signed complaint identifying the specific standard allegedly violated, a factual narrative, and supporting evidence such as emails, contracts, invoices, or meeting minutes. CAMICB can investigate and impose sanctions, including permanent revocation of the CMCA credential.
The Community Associations Institute (CAI) has an ethics-complaint process covering:
| AMS — Association Management Specialist | Individual manager |
| PCAM — Professional Community Association Manager | Individual manager |
| LSM — Large-Scale Manager | Individual manager |
| AAMC — Accredited Association Management Company | Management company |
.
Use CAI’s “Filing an Ethics Complaint” page to check eligibility, review the code, and obtain the complaint form.
