Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that the recall election was another blowout victory against the Nepenthe “Establishment.” The people have spoken with 188 voting to remove Director Christina George and just 119 against her removal. I didn’t think that many people would show up, but the room was packed and extra chairs were dragged out to accommodate all of the spectators. A third-party HOA election company counted all of the ballots in front of the homeowners. It soon became clear that the ballots were stacking up much higher on one side than the other. As the recall petitioner that initiated this director’s removal, it was rather uncomfortable so I busied myself outside.
After an hour or so, one of my favorite supporters grabbed me from the ping pong table to inform me that we won the recall. I am told that the Establishment was shocked by the results, which surprises me given the huge loss they suffered this May. Homeowners saw through all of the lies and did not go along with the incumbent board’s HIDE and SPEND strategy. Even after this big defeat, they didn’t change their ways and even doubled down.
Although there were many things done wrong and I have quite a few things to say, it’s not worth my time. I have many examples of election interference, gas lighting, etc.,… but it’s time to move on. I hope that the two Establishment board members learn to listen to homeowners. This isn’t about “them” anymore and they will no longer be able to hide and spend nor play any of their other games. It’s “clean up on aisle five”, so the two Establishment incumbents can adapt and go along with the program or resign and find something else to do. One thing is clear, homeowners do not want Christina George to be involved with the Grounds Committee. Homeowners want to be included in deciding the “look and feel” of Nepenthe’s landscaping and believe that this shouldn’t be Christina George and Oscar deciding it for us. For now, it’s time to be fiscally responsible and take a breather from this non-stop landscaping renovations.
I am thrilled to announce that I can take a break from Nepenthe HOA politics. I have other interests that I am pursuing and am confident that the three extremely competent board members I helped elect are responsible and will act transparently in the best interest of Nepenthe homeowners. It’s an end of an era for the Establishment and we are officially out of our death spiral. I finally feel good about owning a home here. I want to thank everyone that helped me, especially Peter Pelkofer for funding the legal action against our previous board to force the board into holding the recall.
